ADIDAS MICOACH SOCCER
Digital Legends Entertainment / Adidas
Project Description

Adidas miCoach Soccer is the first of a set of sports games built around the miCoach SPEED_CELL pacer device. The concept was to register the user training performance through SPEED_CELL and apply it as performance bonus and flashier animations to the player's avatar, in a football, tennis and basketball mobile game.

The target was to create a simple, but visually striking, FIFA Street like 3vs3 football game. The game would include GUI systems to track training performance, much like Runtastic, Nike+, etc. Motion capture was used to achieve quality animations for all 3 projects. It would also be the first F2P game developed by Digital Legends.

The game was more of a promotional device for Adidas than a way to earn money or provide fun to its users. Sadly, due to ever-changing GUI and SPEED_CELL interface requirements from Adidas, the core of the development shifted from a quite complex 3D sports game to the training tracking GUI systems. All programmers focused on that part in constant crunch. The game suffered a lot, compromising playability and leaving entire animation sets and tools unused or unfinished. At the end, miCoach Football was released as a half baked game. Not specially fun, and the performance tracking couldn't rival other specialized apps
