Project Description

Dance Fabulous was a dancing game developed for the Nokia N-Gage QD. It was inspired by the Dance Dance Revolution and Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan (Elite Beat Agents). The concept was to make a cute dancer dance with the music found on the mobile device.

The game used a freestyle mode where the player inputs would make the avatar dance without following on-screen inputs. Along the song lenght, a random sequence of input would appear that would give the player a score bonus if entered correctly

The game was quite an interesting proposal, but the Nokia online store was on its last legs; the Iphone had just been released, and it would change everything. It was my last project as tester, becoming a full time designer

My work

  • Quality Assurance: I was the only tester available. I tested the game, set up multiplayer games for user feedback, and worked through the Nokia Technical Requirements certification process in order to release the game.

  • Game design: I was put under the wings of a Lead Designer this time, and started learning the ropes of game design. I defined the base character appearance (built with an in-game customizer) and designed part of the scoring/bonus systems
