ONE
Digital Legends Entertainment / Nokia
Project Description

ONE was a 3D fighting game developed for the Nokia N-Gage. The game was a technical marvel for the time, using normal mapped fighters with motion capture animation, all rendered by a software engine (no GPU). Nokia was the mobile market leader (Apple didn't release the Iphone until much later), and foresaw the potential of mobile gaming. It is also the first game of my career

I was hired as tester. My work consisted in testing the game playability, all the possible combinations of gear the fighters could equip (you could customize them with a huge variety of clothing and hair styles). I was also testing its powerful multiplayer engine, which worked very similar to Xbox live, receiving game invitations while playing, and being able to interrupt a single player session to join a multiplayer match

It was an exhilarating experience, but I still wasn't seeing myself as a designer. That would come later
